Americans were shocked earlier in the month when it was reported that a young pit bull attack victim, Vitoria, was ran out of a KFC because of her scars were scaring customers. The company had since pledged $30,000 dollars to the girls medical bills. Now it has been reported that the family may have faked the story in an attempt to scam the fast food chain.
Earlier in the monthVictoria's Victories Facebook page posted a picture of Victoria along with the message:
“Does this face look scary to you?
Last week at KFC in Jackson MS this precious face was asked to leave because her face scared the other diners. I personally will never step foot in another KFC again and will be personally writing the CEO.”
Shortly after KFC responded to the post, commenting:
“Please accept our sincere apologies while we try to investigate this incident. If you could help provide details of the incident at social.media@sertec.com and we will look into this immediately. We have zero tolerance for any kind of disrespectful behavior by our team members. Once we have further details, we will immediately investigate this and take action, and we wish nothing but the best for Victoria in her recovery.”
However, it has now been reported that KFC has not found any evidence to support the families claim. On Friday a KFC franchise owner released a statement to the press about the investigation:
"We continue to take this report seriously, and of course have great sympathy for Victoria and her family. Since we have so far not been able to verify the incident in our internal investigation, we have also hired a third-party consultant to conduct an independent investigation to help us resolve this matter."
Despite not being able to substantiate the claim, KFC is still standing behind their $30,000 donation.
