Time for another news update about the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. New stills from the film have finally been released to the public, though, what everyone is still talking about is cast member Rita Ora's high-profile breakup with DJ Calvin Harris. This latest still comes after a number of problems the film faced, including Charlie Hunnam's abrupt exit from the flick.
This week fans were finally able to catch a glimpse of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, the billionaire lead (and sex addict) from EL James' popular erotic novel series, Fifty Shades of Grey.
The picture was made public by Universal Pictures and Focus Features, and correlated with the fictional character's birthday. Though it was just a single image, fans of the novel expressed mixed views, as People reveals:
"In the pic, former Calvin Klein model and British TV star Jamie Dornan, who plays Grey, smolders in a black leather jacket while sitting behind the wheel of his Audi R8....More than a thousand fans (and counting) have weighed in on the Facebook post, some happily sending birthday messages even as others sniffed that Dornan didn't fit their image of the literary version of Grey."
Of course, what everyone has really been talking about is Rita Ora and her very public breakup with Calvin Harris. In fact, "public" may be putting it lightly.
After all, it was Calvin who confirmed the split, by tweeting that the two broke up quite some time ago.
Rumors that Rita and Calvin were splitting up first surfaced during the filming of 50 Shades of Grey in Canada. One source told The Mirror that the film really put a strain on their relationship:
"It's been tough for both of them but it's been even harder for them to spend time together recently. He's been busy DJing and she's working on her new album and shooting Fifty Shades of Grey. Calvin is more private when it comes to fame than Rita, which also played a part. He'd be happy to meet someone who has nothing to do with the industry."
