Just over a month after landing in hot water for mocking a handicapped fan's selfie on Instagram, Shaq is putting the past behind him and moving forward. In an ongoing effort to re-brand himself, the athlete/actor/rapper/analyst Shaquille O'Neal is now set to become a DJ. Shaq has reportedly been dabbling for years and has been training hard for the last few months with his good friend and Miami Heat's resident DJ, DJ Irie. His first public appearance will be in Las Vegas, of course. Set to debut at the Chateau Nightclub at the Paris Hotel on June 27, Shaq will soon rock a mic and the turntables and show the world what he's capable of.
Shaq, a renowned music aficionado, recently decided to make the plunge into the world of celebrity club DJ'ing. He's not intimidated, though. His pal DJ Irie showed him the ropes (via Fox Sports):
"'We had a preseason game in Puerto Rico one year and I was there DJ'ing a party. Shaq came up to the booth and said, "Let me get on." The first song he played was "Move B***h" by Ludacris. He rocked me!'
"Though well aware this will be The Diesel's first paying gig at the turntables, the club told TMZ: 'Shaq will win over club-goers as he spins the hottest beats well into the late night hours.'"
As usual, TMZ was there to give the early scoop:
"He's been an MC ... he's been an MVP ... and now, Shaq Diesel is gonna be a nightclub DJ -- and he's already booked his first gig in Sin City ... TMZ Sports has learned.
"Shaq is all set to take over the wheels of steel at Chateau Nightclub at the Paris Hotel on June 27th."
