Jayniece Prichette is accusing Miami Dade County Police of corruption and tampering with evidence in the investigation of her claim of sexual assault involving Colin Kaepernick and two others. Pricette, the alleged victim, is saying that procedural irregularities with the rape kit as well as the line of questioning she was subjected to was unfair and biased. Kaepernick, who has recently signed a new six-year contract, has repeatedly denied the allegations.
Once the book had been closed many people made up their minds that the scenario was over and done with (via ESPN):
"However, state attorney's office spokesman Ed Griffith said Thursday there was no evidence of a sexual assault. Griffith made it clear that it wasn't a case; it was simply an investigation. It was frustrating for many involved that the investigation took more than two months to unfold. But that's the process, and what we know as a result of the process is clear -- there was no wrongdoing."
Prichette thinks that the police are just letting a famous athlete walk away from serious allegations and they not only didn't do their job, but were obstructing justice (via TMZ):
"In the official report, the State's Attorney cites the results of the rape kit -- which showed no evidence of a sex crime -- as a major factor in the decision to drop the case.
"TMZ Sports spoke with Prichette who tells us she's furious with investigators -- saying, 'Police treated me like I was a suspect, and NOT a victim.'"
While it's certainly within the realm of possibility that justice is not being served and men, especially celebrities, are most definitely the recipients of privilege and lenience in cases of violence against women, there are a lot of variables in this instance. A lot of people would have had to get a lot of lies straight to make a cover-up like this work.
