Retired New England Tackle Matt Light finally broke into the Guiness Book of World Records by hosting the largest Cornhole Tournament ever. The ex-Patriot has apparently trying for years to break the record previously held by a North Carolina group, and he did it with 160 teams participating. The charity tournament was also a fundraiser for his Light Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping at-risk children. Light has done much work in this vein since retiring such as an annual free football camp for kids 8-14.
Light was super excited to finally reach his goal of becoming a Guiness World Record holder by organizing the largest Cornhole tournament ever. The game, also known as Baggo, is fun for all ages and can be played at various stages of sobriety (via Boston Globe):
"The event - which brought out Light's Patriots pals Nate Solder, Rob Ninkovich, Braxston Cave, and Sebastian Vollmer - raised money for the Matt Light Foundation, which helps at-risk kids, and also apparently broke the Guinness World Record for largest cornhole tournament (he had 160 teams playing the game)."
Besides capturing further glory for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the twenty-first annual Matt Light All Conference Football Camp went underway this week. The free camp is designed to teach not only fundamentals and techniques, but also valuable life lessons (via Daily Advocate):
"'While the camp instructors wanted the boys to have fun, they also wanted them to learn the value of hard work', Light said.
"'You've got to work at everything that you do, and you'll get out what you put into it. We stress that a lot with these kids. Have fun doing what you do but know that the more that you put into it, the more you're going to get out of it.'"
