Tonight’s Jessie is all new on the Disney Channel. The hit show stars Debby Ryan, Peyton List, Karan Brar, and Skai Jackson. . Ryan recently opened up about directing an episode in Season 3 and staying behind the camera for Season 4. She also received a Teen Choice Award nomination for her time on screen.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled, “Where’s Zuri,” briefs:
“When Jessie forbids Zuri from hanging out with Stuart after she and Stuart's "manny" get into an argument, Zuri and Stuart run away.”
The show’s star Debby Ryan directed an episode of the current season. Ryan recently spoke with Shine On-Media about stepping behind the camera:
“I think something that’s great about Jessie is she’s my ‘back pocket girl.’ I can pull her out, know the lines and be pretty comfortable in her voice. She was written for me and I feel very blessed to have gotten to the point where I have the character that way and I know my writers well. Because she’s such a comfortable voice for me to play, I always love a challenge so for me, I found that in directing. For me to be able to take something from just being words on a page, the little details, and bring it to life, I found such a beauty in being able to do that and it renewed my love for storytelling in the TV industry. For me, I would love to spend as much time as possible directing and in that kind of world. It was fun and I like getting lost in work. I think that it makes you a better actor and producer, it makes you more aware of little details and more proactive. If anything, it made me a better human being so I would love to continue doing that on and off.”
Ryan was recently nominated for a Teen Choice award. After the nomination was announced, Ryan tweeted her fans:
“Just landed stateside to the Teen Choice nom news. Unreal. Thanks, teens. I choose you too. #GottaCatchEmAll #Wut”
