FX ‘Fargo’ Finale Cast Spoilers: Martin Freeman Rapes Pleas; Billy Bob Thornton Retires; Noah Hawley Confirms Season 2 [VIDEO UPDATE]

FX Network's new TV series inspired by the Coen brothers' cult classic of the same name, Fargo, is a big hit among critics and televisions audiences alike. Peter Jackson's Bilbo Baggins Hobbit Martin Freeman, is superb as homicidal real estate agent Lester Nygaard, but then again the Office cast star always knew he was capable of darker characters. Spoilers: He had been pleading with his agents to get him a job as a murderer or serial rapist for years. Sling Blade visionary Billy Bob Thornton is absolutely chilling as Lorne Malvo, though the actor doesn't think he will be returning for another season of the series. Despite showrunner Noah Hawley having practically confirmed that the dark comedy will at least return for Season 2, Thornton seems non-committal. But since Billy Bob has already announced his retirement from directing movies anymore, anyways; one has to wonder if he even has any other propositions.

The Office's seemingly mild mannered Martin Freeman is shockingly terrifying as ethical enigma Lester Nygaard, who murders his wife on a whim in the series premiere episode.

Martin told TV Guide that he always knew that there was a dark as twisted rapist lurking deep within his soul, he just needed someone to allow give to let it out:

"I've said to my agents for ages in a kind of lighthearted way that I think I need to play a serial killer, a f---ing rapist, drug dealer, whatever. Partly because people don't see me like that and partly because I want to flex those muscles again.

"Before The Office, I was a young actor in London who casting agents... saw as kind of edgy. I would be going up for those parts that were a bit violent or a bit scuzzy.

"It's not that I'm a serial killer or anything.

"But it's in everybody. We all have those moments where you do want to throw someone out of a window."

Billy Bob Thornton seems surprising comfortable with his transition back into television, but anything beats making more failed flicks.

Billy Bob told Entertainment Weekly that he just couldn't see himself making even making one more major motion picture in his lifetime:

I think I'm obsolete as a film director. I don't think there's a place for me as a film director--or a writer.

"If I wrote anything, it would probably be for television and maybe like Costner's [Hatfields and McCoys] thing. Or maybe like this, maybe Fargo. I can see myself doing something like that.

"I can't see myself being a television director unless it's for a two-hour movie. Like if I did an HBO or FX or whatever it is, movie. That I would do."

Well...something's better than nothing.
