The Billboard charts has seen some movement these past couple of weeks with newcomers breaking into the top tier of the classical music charts and some cementing their place as one of the best acts of the year.
Placido Domingo sled from the top ten while Andrea Bocelli surged up the charts.
Starting off the list is Dutchman Andre Rieu whose "Home For The Holidays," has displaced the London Symphony Orchestra's "The Greatest Video Game Music 2," for the No. 1 spot. The LPO isn't even in the top ten at the moment. Rieu's album has never left the top five for months as it continues battling it out with Jackie Evancho's "Songs from the Silver Screen."
At No. 2 is the aforementioned Jackie Evancho and her "Songs From The Silver Screen." Evancho is a much coveted talent and her hectic tour schedule is testament that the young singer is currently sweeping across the United States from coast to coast performing songs from her latest title.
This only being their second album, Il Volo the three teen tenor group has made it to No.3 on the charts with their recently released "We Are Love." The trio is coming off a big performance with Broadway icon Barbra Streisand earlier in the year and has been on the Billboard charts before with their first album which self entitled "Il Volo."
The group that comprises of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble were elated when they found out they were working with Streisand.
"That for us is very exciting," Boschetto says. "Our manager is a big fan of hers, so I started to know about her because of him, and then I got many CDs of hers...and I love her. We met her at (the recording session for) 'We Are the World (25 For Haiti)' in 2010. She's nice. I think that two years ago I was in my room playing PlayStation or with my friends playing (soccer). Now I'm here. We are having this big tour with Barbra Streisand, and we are going to sing with her. So I think the right words are that the dream is coming true," he told Billboard.com.
Debuting at No. 4 on the charts is "Advent At Ephesus," by Benedictines Of Mary, Queen Of Apostles. This church-based group is singing out of Gower, Missouri and members live a monastic life.
Rounding out the top five is The Piano Guys who have come to be a staple on the charts and like Andre Rieu have never really left the top five. The YouTube sensation utilizes cellos and pianos and every song they make only utilizes what they play themselves.
