Michael Jordan Billionaire Lawsuit? Judge Calls His Airness a Hog After Steak with Kobe, Stakes Up

Michael Jordan, one of the greatest athletes of all-time, and still one of the most recognizable figures in sports, is now a billionaire. His Airness recently increased his stake in the Charlotte Hornets to bump his net worth over the hump. Speaking of stakes (oh no, this is gonna be bad) Jordan recently had steaks with his protégé Kobe Bryant (oh that was bad) in LA. And now Jordan is trying to pad his wallet even more in his lawsuit against a food chain that he says used his likeness without his permission. The suit, originally filed in 2010, has new legs as Jordan's lawyers are seeking to have a new judge to rule on the case after the judge reportedly called Jordan a hog that needed to be slaughtered.

In one of two lawsuits filed by Michael Jordan for separate incidents of grocery stores unlawfully using his celebrity to sell their wares, Jordan is now looking for a new judge in his case against Dominick's. Allegedly during a hearing in 2011 the judge compared Jordan to a hog that ought to be slaughtered for being too greedy. Jordan's lawyers think that smacks of violence, but Steven Mandell, who represents Dominick's, doesn't see the problem (via Chicago Tribune):

"As judges often do, Judge Shadur simply reacted negatively to Mr. Sperling's overreaching damage calculation, and now Mr. Jordan's lawyers are trying to do whatever they can to find a judge who might be more receptive."

Not that he doesn't deserve to get his payday if the case ultimately goes his way but Jordan is certainly not hurting for money. He just became a billionaire after increasing his stake in the Charlotte Hornets from 80% to 89.5%. Check out all this crazy, completely uninteresting math! (via Forbes):

"Our net worth figure for Jordan uses the $600 million [estimated value of the Hornets] figure. The Hornets have $135 million of debt, which makes Jordan's equity in the team worth $416 million. After subtracting all the cash Jordan has invested in the team, we estimate his net worth outside of the Hornets to be $600 million, giving him a net worth of a $1 billion."
