Retired Sting Undertaker Return: Wrestlemania Rumors and WWE Contract Negotiation News

The negotiations for a WWE contract for Sting are going strong again. The talks, which appeared to be stalled a few weeks ago, are stronger than ever. But does that mean that the retired WCW and TNA Icon is destined for a legendary match at Wrestlemania with the Undertaker? Rumors have been bubbling for months but there is a strong feeling since the streak ended that Taker won't be able to return to the ring. However, the good news is, according to sources, that Sting is definitely working on a deal to come to WWE.

Vince McMahon's courtship of the Stinger began years ago, but in recent months there has been increased chatter about an actual deal being signed. The ever mysterious Sting hasn't been very vocal in the press but sources say the two camps are talking (via Sports World News):

"In the past, the WWE at least had interest in bringing Sting in for one match atWrestleMania due to his California ties, and it would have included a Hall of Fame induction for him.

"It appears as though Sting and the WWE could be closing in on a pact, though it still isn't a done deal after months of negotiations."

Despite all the recent flip-flopping, the latest rumor according to the Wrestling Observer newsletter is that the flimsy Legends contract was just the opening move, and that the WWE is prepared to sweeten the deal (via Cageside Seats):

"On the Sting deal, they are offering him more than just the standard legends deal in the current negotiations. Our report that it was the legends deal was part of it, but there are more to the talks than just the legends deal. As of 6/9, he hadn't signed. ... The feeling is still they are close enough and a deal will be done inevitably."
