After Cheating Rumors, Golden Tate Fired? Detroit Receiver No Returns Expected

Premiere Lions receiver Golden Tate has been fired- from his secondary job as a punt returner. Jeremy Ross is the team's return specialist, so Tate won't be expected to do the job he did for Seattle. Detroit wants him to concentrate on offense, even though he has reportedly expressed interest in being available just in case. Of course everyone knows by now Tate has no problem sharing with teammates, as rumor has it he was cheating with Russell Wilson's soon-to-be ex-wife.

Amidst rumors of cheating with Russell Wilson's ex Ashton, Golden Tate has maintained an intense workout attitude and expects his teammates to deliver the same level of commitment during the off-season (via Detroit Free Press):

"I don't really see it being too much of a difference. Just the days will be a little longer. But our intensity is going to stay turned up. It's going to stay turned up, work out there and grinding it out because we've got a nice little break coming up before we really hit it."

Meanwhile Tate has expressed his willingness to go the extra yard for the Lions on special teams as a kick returner. But Detroit has specialist Jeremy Ross set to return punts and kickoffs as of now so Tate and Reggie Bush can focus on offense (via NBC Sports):

"I want to do whatever I can to help this team. We have a really good punt returner now in Jeremy Ross, and I have a lot of confidence in him. So if they need me, I'll be there. But as far as I'm concerned, he's the punt returner. He's a tremendous punt returner, too."

Since special teams notoriously lead to more injuries Tate should count himself lucky. Even though big plays can provide excitement and can turn the tide in a game there is often higher velocity impact which can be dangerous.
