If Game of Thrones is your fancy and young talent your drink of choice, then you have to hear the latest haunting folk dirge "The Rains of Castamere," a GoT original with lyrics by the series' creator, George R.R. Martin, and music by Ramin Djawadi--as covered by the boisterous prodigy Jackie Evancho.
This wouldn't be the first time something Thrones-y has hit the popular media stage. In fact, indie rock giants The National and Icelandic soundscapers Sigur Ros covered the song, the latter even went so far as to be the band that performs at King Joffery's wedding.
The song also made an appearance in what could be regarded as the most bloody episode on television, the famous "Red Wedding" episode from the series.
Evancho's unique cover debuted on Yahoo.com and is now available via most digi-providers (iTunes, Amazon MP3 and Spotify). The track will also be available on Jackie's latest album Awakening, which drops September 23 via Sony Music Masterworks imprint Portrait.
And on June 12, Jackie will perform at the 2014 Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York City alongside Bon Jovi, Aloe Blacc and Miguel.
In the meantime, you can bide your anxious time with a small listen of the cover below. Thanks be to Yahoo!
