Retired McCain Supporter Chuck Liddell Street Fight? Ex MMA Comments On Self-Defense

Retired UFC fighter Chuck Liddell is embracing the lighter side these days. His various product endorsements often trade on his tough guy image by using humor as a twist. But he wants you to know that he can still kick your butt. Liddell recently made his feelings on self-defense known, so heed his comments and don't jump him in the parking lot. Also, did you know that Liddell was a supporter of John McCain even though Senator McCain once vowed to eliminate the sport?

Chuck Liddell feels that despite any advantages he may possess as a trained fighter he should be allowed to protect his own well-being (via TMZ):

"The Iceman was out in Calabasas when we asked about the notion that trained fighters should always turn the other cheek in a street brawl because if he fights back ... he could be hit with more serious criminal charges...

"But Liddell told us, 'I still have a right to defend myself ... and uh, don't forget ... I'm a fighter first ... so I WILL protect myself.'"

While that line of reasoning makes sense, Liddell's association with Senator John McCain is slightly more puzzling. The former presidential candidate has often spoken out against mixed martial arts, and yet Liddell openly supported the senator (via What Culture):

"Despite having almost helped to kill off MMA in North America, Chuck Liddell still publicly endorsed John McCain in the 2008 presidential election, lending his name to the Republican's campaign. The UFC wouldn't say that McCain is their enemy, but it came as a great surprise that Liddell should support the UFC's notorious detractor when he was such a big obstacle to the company in those early years."

So in the event that you are in a dark alley with Chuck Liddell, don't try to jack his wallet. He's waiting for you. Instead, buy him a beer and have a chat about John McCain.
