CM Punk to Join Shield? Retired Rumors After Seth Rollins Heel Turn, Matt Morgan Thoughts

With the stage set for a summer feud between The Shield and Evolution, the big question is who gets to replace Seth Rollins? With Rollins' heel turn shaking up the ranks of the Shield the rumor mill is running overtime. Some are saying that if the semi-retired CM Punk were to return to WWE that would be the best way to do it. Also, retired wrestler Matt Morgan offered his thoughts on Punk.

After a disappointing May the WWE action is looking to heat up this summer. With the platform set for a great 6-man feud between the Shield and Evolution the only question is who should replace Rollins. Some people are saying that it should be someone who has taken on Triple H before (via Trib Live):

"It's clear this feud between the two factions is going to continue through the summer. This means The Shield needs a third guy to even the odds.

"The only guy who isn't in NXT who would be the perfect big surprise is CM Punk. Not just because it would be a major return given how he left, but there are a lot of little factors and pieces of history which make sense."

There's only one problem with that: the safe bet is that CM Punk isn't coming back. Known to be a stubborn man who has an abundance of pride and principles, there's not much that could bring him back to the ring short of creative control. It's not like he needs the money.

The Epoch Times recently spoke with retired wrestler Matt Morgan who offered his thoughts on Punk:

"Punk is wealthy as well. Punk left because ... he could probably physically still complete, and maybe wasn't happy with what was happening with his character ... things add up, and really snowball out of control...

"He's smart with his money, he's frugal with his money, so you can't give that excuse. God bless him for not being a robot, who are stuck in the world of wrestling ... and the only thing that matters is wrestling."
