Canada's smartest person couldn't even win one round of Jeopardy. Maybe Canadian football player Peter Dyakowski should try the new "Sports Jeopardy" show, but, wait... He couldn't even get sports questions right! After he failed to bring it in the presence of the great Alex Trebek, at least he was light-hearted about the goof.
Tuesday's episode of Jeopardy proved a painful lesson for Canada's Peter Dyakowski. His appearance on the long-running trivia show was a little more overwhelming than he expected. The episode, which was taped in February, showed that nerves play just as important a role as knowledge (via Hamilton Spectacle):
"'Everything was clicking,' Peter Dyakowski says. 'I was astonishingly confident.' He pauses for a second and chuckles. 'Possibly overconfident as later events would prove... I've got to take it on the chin,' he laughs. 'I had this coming to me after basking in the glory of Canada's Smartest Person for two years.'"
The CFL offensive lineman, who currently plays for the Hamilton Tiger Cats, actually spent some time stateside playing for LSU. A trivia buff, Dyakowski was awarded the title Canada's Smartest Person in 2012.
So after nearly 30 years people can't get enough Jeopardy. Now there's going to be another spin-off show called- wait for it- "Sports Jeopardy". The apparently super-tough vetting process will begin soon as the show is set to air in the fall on Crackle (via TMZ):
"After paring down applicants from the 'Sports Jeopardy' website, select wannabe contestants will be invited to an in-person audition in various cities across the country.
"Once they arrive, hopefuls will take a 'qualifying test' -- 30 clues in 30 categories ... with only 8 seconds to write down their response to each clue.
"Those who get through that round will play a 'mock version of the game' and participate in a personality interview with producers."
What do you think? How would you fare on Sports Jeopardy?
