Rumors of Sting's "imminent" return to wrestling had cooled off for a week or so, but now the feeling is that the wheels are turning once again. Sting, real name Steve Borden, is reportedly in negotiations with the WWE for a possible "Legends" contract which would be considered standard for someone in Sting's position. Also, fans are still hoping there is at least a chance of getting their dream match of Sting vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
It has been reported that a deal between Sting and WWE is back on the table though details are still sketchy. The baseline deal seems to be what WWE calls a standard Legends contract of $10,000 with no guaranteed bonuses. That would still leave room, however, to possibly negotiate a match down the road, hopefully with Undertaker (Sports World News):
"As for an opponent for WrestleMania 31, with the event still being nine months away, it is unclear who Sting would face. The obvious choice would be The Undertaker, but now that he lost The Streak at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans to Brock Lesnar, it is unknown if he'll be returning for another match.
"With The Undertaker's streak gone and him suffering injuries against Lesnar, there has been some speculation that he may retire and that WrestleMania XXX may have been his final match."
While many fans are going to be excited about this, some are worried that any in-ring action might be a train wreck (via What Culture):
"Despite the deal being put on the back burner, it's still on the table, you have to imagine it will get done with WrestleMania 31 in mind. That is unless either party is having second thoughts, indeed, there's more than a few reasons for both WWE and Sting why this deal could be a mistake."
Whatever the end result, Sting would prove a great addition to the organization. Sting has great mic skills, automatic credentials, and a family-friendly character that fits nicely with the current creative direction of WWE. Even if he doesn't wrestle, WWE could always use someone with that much star power.
