John Elway's Son Arrested, Assault Charges After Fight With Girlfriend, Hair Pulling

Jack Elway, born John Elway III, has been arrested and charged with assault and disturbing the peace following an incident with his girlfriend. Allegedly Elway pulled his girlfriend out of the car by her hair after they had gotten into an argument. The fight then continued, according to the girlfriend, as she tried to stand up he pushed her back down to the ground.

Last Saturday Jack Elway reportedly got into an argument with his girlfriend while driving through downtown Denver. Elway stopped the car, according to the police report, got out and pulled his girlfriend out by her hair, removing not only hair extensions but also some of her real hair.

But the attack didn't end there (via TMZ):

"The GF says she attempted to stand up and get back in the car but Elway 'pushed her down to the ground again.'

"The GF claims she suffered scrapes to both knees. Elway was tracked down and arrested for disturbing the peace and assault. Bail was set at $550. His father picked him up from jail."

Elway also reportedly fled the scene but was tracked down at his dad's place, or at least one of his places. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 5.

Jack, who one hopes to God didn't learn this type of behavior from his father, has never played football at any level higher than high school. Pro Football legend John Elway didn't make a statement, but the Broncos, his team as a player and as a general manager, did. Sort of (via CBS Sports):

"'This is a personal family matter and the Broncos will not have any additional comment on it,' the Broncos said in a statement."

Violence against women is a crime as old as humanity, and though the discussion is often swept under the rug, it is still a big problem in the U.S. Stories like this don't spark debate in the same way that a Donald Sterling type of scandal, but the subject deserves more conversation.
