Sting Return Wrestlemania After Retirement Rumors, Undertaker Ending Streak to Brock Lesnar a Mistake

As Sting's possible return to the ring seems to be less and less likely every day, fans and bloggers are wondering how much it has to do with Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania ending at the hands of Brock Lesnar. Most agree it was a mistake, a brave gamble that didn't pay off. But more importantly the question now is, how does this development affect not only Taker, but Sting as well.

With the whole wrestling world still spinning from the senseless loss the Undertaker suffered at the hands of Brock Lesnar, one can't help but ponder the consequences of that decision. In theory, one can understand the logic behind bringing Taker's run to an end. He is aging rapidly and his body has been ravaged over his storied 30-year career. But many are questioning the wisdom of tarnishing his unbeaten streak at Wrestlemania to what many consider to be an unworthy opponent.

And Sting has made it clear that he is only interested in one match: Taker. If indeed there had been a plan to bring Sting to the WWE ring, there is a limit to how much action his body can take. So naturally the biggest stage of them all is Wrestlemania. And yet the time table is disappearing rapidly- if it's not already too late (via Bleacher Report):

"There's not a lot of time left for this to happen and mean as much as it should. Yes, as more younger fans get WWE Network, they may develop their own desire to see him in WWE, but the guy on the network in the great matches with Vader, Ric Flair, The Great Muta, Rick Rude and so on is not the guy who would be wrestling in WWE. Sting's a lot older, a lot more broken-down and needs the right costume and/or long training period to look like people will expect him to look."

And now, Undertaker is damaged goods. Both wrestlers are well past their prime, and the excitement of that potential matchup is fading fast, especially after the beating Undertaker took from Lesnar. WWE officials might now be worrying if they messed up big time by ending the streak this year against this opponent (via Inquisitr):

"Right now there are people in the inner circle who believe Vince McMahon didn't make the decision for Undertaker to lose at the last minute, but simply waited until the last minute to let anyone know. There is still a lot of internal belief that it was the wrong call, basically I'm told that's the majority viewpoint but nobody can publicly say it, particularly since there is no indication Undertaker won't be back for next year's WrestleMania."
