Generating more rumors than a girls' gym locker room is basically pro wrestling's bread and butter. But what about wrestling fans getting all lathered up for the return of WWE champ Daniel Bryan? Is the YES man coming back as early as June? Or is Stephanie McMahon going to get her way at Payback tonight by forcing the title to change hands?
Unfortunately the rumors of Daniel Bryan's early return were prompted by oversights on the WWE website. Typically changes in the schedule are removed promptly to reflect an up-to-date calendar but someone forgot to remove Bryan's name from selected June dates. While the champ's recovery is expected to be quick six weeks is a tad ambitious (via Wrestle Zone):
"The latest on Daniel Bryan's in-ring return to WWE is still questionable at best. The original thought is that Bryan would be returning at some point in June, in time to work a "Buried Alive" match with Kane at the WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view. However, it's still unknown whether he'll be ready by then."
Of course the other question the wrestling world is asking is 'will Bryan be able to hold on to the belt while out of action?' Stephanie McMahon has repeatedly asked for the champ to vacate the World Heavyweight Title, to which Bryan has responded with a clear and defiant "NO!"
But recently on Raw McMahon threw Bryan a curve ball (via Cage Side Seats):
"Bryan did NOT relinquish the WWE world heavyweight title. In fact, when prompted he got in Stephanie's face and shouted 'NO' over and over. It was then that Stephanie brought up the fact that Brie Bella, Daniel's wife, put her hands on Stephanie - 'THE BOSS' -- a couple weeks back and Bryan can either decide to drop the belt(s) at Payback this coming Sunday night in Chicago or Brie will be fired."
