Tony Romo is putting out a lot of positive vibes upon his return to the field after back surgery last season. With extensive rehab and conditioning Romo is hoping to recover and compete at his previous level despite his advancing age. In fact, he says he'll probably play for another 5 or 6 years.
Joking around with reporters at Dallas's OTAs this week, Romo said he expects to get back to his 4.4 speed any day now. But seriously folks.
Though not exerting himself too much at this stage in the off-season, Romo feels good about his progress after the surgery, and with rehab and recovery he expects to play for years to come (via Sacramento Bee):
"'I think I'm going to play for a lot longer,' Romo said in his first group interview since Dec. 22. 'I know it's a big discussion when you're coming back from surgery, but by the same token, I wouldn't be surprised if I played another five or six years, either.'"
Romo also commented on the resilient power of the human body.
While speculation is high over Romo's potential this season, he's not worried. Romo just plans to prepare and let his playing do the talking (via Dallas News):
"'Anytime somebody goes through surgery, it's always that sort of talk,'' Romo said. 'You have to just go out and play. When you play and all of a sudden the season is over, then that kinda goes away just like a lot of other things that get talked about from year to year.'
"'People can make predictions. Some are proven right, some are proven wrong. It's all going to be shown on the field when it's all said and done.'''
What do you think? Can Romo meet or possibly exceed his performance in past years?
