After Super Hero Movie, Wrestling Superstar Batista Leaving WWE? Quitting Rumors

Is Batista leaving WWE? There may be rumors that the six time world champ just made his last appearance on RAW, but that's only half true. As WWE Superstar Batista's new super hero movie Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released in August he will have to take some time off to promote the film. So he's not quitting WWE, he's just getting his movie premiere on.

The movie, combined with unforeseen fan reaction to Batista's babyface turn, has altered the wrestling organization's plans for a possible cross-promotion with Marvel (via What Culture):

"The hope when Batista first re-joined the company in January was that he would be wrestling's top babyface star, leading to a large amount of publicity when he left to do the film promotion. That hasn't proved to be the case, Batista has been received with loathing from WWE fans, meaning that a beneficial tie-in with the film is subdued. WWE would have been far better off this summer if they could have kept hold of Batista for a full time role as the number one heel."

Fans and critics predict this will put Evolution on hold as well. The newly reformed stable won't work without Batista so the smart money is on putting the Evolution storyline on ice, at least for now (via Cageside Seats):

"Realistically, the group breaking up once Big Dave bails makes the most sense. It was rumored that the entire purpose of getting the band back together was both because Triple H wanted to bring the old crew back to work with The Shield, and because he wanted to put them over strong to catapult them as a hot babyface act once the decision was made not to break them up."

While anything could happen between now and Guardians' release, for now it looks like Payback will be Batista's last appearance for a while.
