Time for another news update about the cast of the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. It turns out that Dakota Johnson, Rita Ora and Charlie Hunnam may be to blame for a rise in STDs. Charlie Hunnam dodged the bullet after he dropped out of the role of Christian Grey in the popular Fifty Shades franchise.
Old people are doing it in record numbers. Unfortunately, they're not always wearing protection.
One doctor thinks that this may have something to do with EL James popular novel. Dr. Charlotte Jones tells NY Daily News that Fifty Shades of Grey has caused a spike in STDs:
"When it comes to forgetting about safe sex we always think of the vulnerability of young people, but there's the Fifty Shades of Grey effect where older people are being more explorative, but not necessarily remembering to use a condom."
Though the statements may come across as silly, there is one person who's not laughing. Don Johnson, the father of Dakota Johnson, is not a fan of the 50 franchise.
EL James probably doesn't care what Don Johnson thinks about her bestselling novel, but that didn't stop the actor from bashing her work. In an interview with Huffington Post, Don admitted that he never read James' book, nor does he have any plans to do so in the future:
"I don't know anything about it," he told host Ricky Camilleri, of the popular book...[And] this isn't something I would go out and buy and read anyways. This isn't on my bucket list. I read 'The Story Of O' in the sixties so I think I'm up to speed. I can tell you this: Dakota is a gifted, gifted actress. And this will be a blip in a long line of parts where she kills it. She is the authentic article and I am exceedingly proud of her."
