Last fall actor Lee Thompson Young took his own life. Young was best known for his roles in Disney’s The Famous Jett Jackson, Friday Night Lives and as Cyborg on Smallville. At the time of his death, Young was staring on TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles as Detective Frost. Now with the fifth season of the show just around the corner, the cast and crew are planning a very special tribute for their fallen friend.
The Season 4 finale aired just a few months back, in March. The cast decided to abstain from live tweeting the event, with executive producer Jan Nash announcing:
“Out of respect for our colleague Lee Thompson Young, the staff of R&I will not be live tweeting during tonight's episode. @RizzoliIslesTNT.”
The show will instead decide to pay tribute to Young in first two episode of Season 5, according to Angie Harmon who tweeted:
“Hope you enjoyed @RizzoliIslesTNT season 4 finale. Season 5 eps 1&2 address our beloved Lee w/ love, honor & respect. Thank you @JanNash100.”
Following his death, TNT released a statement, writing:
"We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother."
Rizzoli and Isles Season 5 premieres on June 17.
