‘Dumb and Dumber To’ Jim Carrey Gets Honorary Doctorate After ‘Always Sunny’s’ Charlie Day [SPEECH] [VIDEO]

Jim Carrey made a name for himself by talking out of his butt. However, the comedian has come a long way since his Ace Ventura days. The Dumb and Dumber To star is now a Dr. Carrey recently received an honorary doctorate from Maharishi University of Management. Carrey is not the only to receive the honor recently. Last week, Its Always Sunny star Charlie Day was made a doctor.

Jim Carrey is a doctor. Yeap, that is right. The comedian/author recently received an honorary doctorate.

During the commencement speech Carrey payed tribute to his father, telling the graduates:

"My father could have been a great comedian, but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant. When I was 12 years old, he was let go from that safe job, and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father, not the least of which was that you could fail at what you don't love, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."

Carrey went on to offer some fatherly advice to the graduates, adding:

“When I was about 28, after a decade as a professional comedian, I realized one night in LA, the purpose of my life had always been to free people from concern, just like my dad. When I realized this, I dubbed my new devotion ‘the church of freedom from concern.’ And I dedicated myself to that ministry. What’s yours? How will you serve the world? What do they need that your talent can provide? That’s all you have to figure out. As someone who’s done what you’re about to go and do, I can tell you from experience the effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is.”

Last week, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day received an honorary doctorate from his from his alma mater Merrimack College.

After receiving the honor the funnyman joked:

"Dr. Charlie Day sounds like some sort of club DJ. I assure you, I intend to go by this title from now on, and I plan to begin writing my own prescriptions immediately"
