Amidst the divorce and rumors of cheating, the Seattle Seahawks' visit to the White House must have been a nice diversion for quarterback Russell Wilson. But wait, ex-teammate Golden Tate was there since he was on the Super Bowl winning roster. While there were no reports of drama, the jury is still out on Tate's out of nowhere response to cheating allegations that didn't seem to exist before he unloaded on Twiter. Then Wilson set the world on fire by growing his hair out for diabetes, then getting a haircut seemingly to fight cancer.
The White House recently invited the Super Bowl XLVIII Champion Seattle Seahawks to honor them and Golden Tate was there since he was on the team. Tate, currently catching passes in Detroit, did not stir any controversy around President Obama but did leak the date of the Seahawks ring ceremony later on the radio, June 19 (via Seattle Pi):
"Tate let the story slip while being interviewed by Dave 'Softy' Mahler on KJR-FM Wednesday afternoon, just hours after reuniting with his former teammates at a ceremony honoring the Super Bowl XLVIII champions at the White House. Mahler tweeted about the revelation after the interview concluded, as did some observant Hawks fans."
Not to be outdone, Russell Wilson's hair set out to make news for a second good cause.
Leading up to their Super Bowl victory Wilson let his hair grow to honor his father, who died at age 55 of diabetes. Wilson had hoped that his profile would help raise awareness about the disease. Now he has shorn his curly locks, apparently in hopes of aiding the fight against cancer (via Seattle Pi):
"Well, well, well. It appears Wilson ended up getting all of his locks lopped off. He just posted a new photo of his bald self hanging out with Macklemore and a patient at Seattle Children's hospital."
