Time for some more news from the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie. After rumors that Dakota Johnson and her Scientologist boyfriend were going to breakup over her role in Fifty Shades, the actress' father bashed the popular book series. These latest developments come after Charlie Hunnam abandoned his role of Christian Grey.
EL James probably doesn't care what Don Johnson thinks about her bestselling novel, but that didn't stop the actor from bashing her work. In an interview with Huffington Post, Don admitted that he never read James' book, nor does he have any plans to do so in the future:
"I don't know anything about it," he told host Ricky Camilleri, of the popular book...[And] this isn't something I would go out and buy and read anyways. This isn't on my bucket list. I read 'The Story Of O' in the sixties so I think I'm up to speed. I can tell you this: Dakota is a gifted, gifted actress. And this will be a blip in a long line of parts where she kills it. She is the authentic article and I am exceedingly proud of her."
Don allegedly wasn't the only one to have trouble with Dakota being in the film. According to a source who spoke with Star, Dakota's Scientologist boyfriend was ready to leave her:
"There's no grey area when it comes to Dakota Johnson's new status in Hollywood. After landing the role of Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, the 24-year-old went from under-the-radar to in-the-spotlight star. But one person who is struggling with Dakota's highly sexualized role is her Scientologist boyfriend of one year."
