Peyton Manning has built a great legacy as a professional quarterback and will likely continue to build on it for at least a few years to come. But let's face it- he imploded at the Super Bowl. Now there is a cellphone app to commemorate that embarrassment. It's called Smashman and it kind of mocks Manning's experience against Seattle in February. But in a loving way.
After seeing Manning's initial fumble and subsequent meltdown a former teammate came up with a way to enjoy it all day every day (via TMZ):
"Brandon King -- a DB who played with Manning in 2010 -- has developed a smart phone game called 'Smashman' ... where a QB (who bears a striking resemblance to Peyton) gets chased around by a defense (that bears a striking resemblance to the Seahawks).
"King tells TMZ Sports he came up with the idea after watching the Super Bowl -- saying, 'It was the most embarrassing game I ever saw him play. I was like let me make an app where it's almost impossible to score on a defense.'"
So the object is to score 44 points, but it's actually nearly impossible. Which is kind of the point.
King apparently hasn't spoken to Manning about it but feels like he would think it was funny.
Manning completed a record-setting 34 passes at the big dance (SB Nation), but only scored once and threw two interceptions, plus there was that huge fumble on the first play from scrimmage. He struggled, really limped his way to his second Super Bowl loss.
What do you think? Would you play Smashman? How would you feel if you failed on a large scale and then a former co-worker made that embarrassing failure into a smart phone app?
