Renewed ‘Hannibal’ Season 2 Finale Spoilers After ‘Boardwalk Empire’s’ Michael Pitt Face Off Episode

SPOILER ALERT:Tonight, NBC’s hit thriller series Hannibal is all new tonight with the final episode of Season 2. The show staring Mad Mickelson, and Laurence Fishburne was recently renewed for a third season. Last week, Mason Verger ( Michael Pitt Boardwalk Empire, Hedwig and The Angry Inch) cut off his own face and feed it too his dogs before being paralyzed by Dr. Lector. How will the show top it this that in the big season finale? Check the preview below to see what is in store for the “good” doctor.

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s Season 2 finale of Hannibal, titled “Mizumono,” reads:

“Hannibal prepares for his imminent departure with, he believes, Will. Will prepares for a departure of another sort, tying up loose ends, not sure if he’ll survive the trap he’s set for Hannibal. Both men feel that Jack (Laurence Fishburne) deserves the truth, but what is that truth? Loyalties will be tested and forgiveness will be asked…and the inevitable battle between Hannibal and Jack is upon them. Also starring Caroline Dhavernas, Aaron Abrams, Scott Thompson, Lara Jane Chorostecki, Vladimir and Jon Cub.”

Last week the show crippled and disfigured Michael Pitt’s character Mason Verger. the show’s executive producer, Bryan Fuller commented on the episode, telling to TV Guide:

“We have this communion between Will and Hannibal where they have ortolan bunting, which is this debauched delicacy. You eat a songbird that has been drowned in armagnac alive and plucked and roasted. It's the sinful affront to God. In that [scene], we talk about who Will's becoming and how the radiance of Freddie Lounds' murder has to fuel who he's to become. We want the audience to think that Will actually did kill her, but it's all part of a long con that Will and Jack Crawford have engineered to trap Hannibal. When Freddie stands up and says, ‘How was my funeral?’ we know that Will is actually as good a fisherman as he promised Jack he was... Episode 12 is one of my favorites of the season because it is so bonkers. It's bonkers by way of Michael Pitt having the time of his life with this performance. He's so fun in it and such a bastard. And yes, Mason Verger is activated in a big way.”

Check out the all new episode tonight at 10:00 p.m. on NBC.
