After Dan Henderson Broken Nose, UFC Fighter Shogun Rua Robbed at Gunpoint In Rio De Janeiro

Mauricio Rua, known in the UFC as Shogun has had a little streak of bad luck lately. After his last match with Dan Henderson in which Henderson broke Rua's nose, Shogun found himself in Rio de Janeiro doing promotional work. One evening while in Rio Rua ended up getting robbed at gunpoint.

After dinner with friends and business associates, Shogun dropped everyone off and headed back to his hotel when he was held up (via Yahoo Sports):

"He and his manager, Eduardo Alonso, went out to dinner with fellow UFC fighter Demian Maia, who was also in town representing one of his sponsors...

"On his way, driving a friend's car, he was stopped by another car and four armed individuals and stole his friend's car, stole Shogun's shirt, stole his money, and said, 'I know who you are, you're a fighter. Don't try anything.' It was an unfortunate situation."

Fortunately Shogun cooperated and walked away unharmed.

As mentioned earlier, however, Rua did suffer an injury following a UFC match in March. In a highly anticipated rematch between Shogun and Dan Henderson, Shogun suffered a broken nose at the hands of Henderson as well as his second loss to the fighter (via MMA Junkie):

"Rua took a short right hand in the third round that knocked him to the canvas and led to a stoppage win for Henderson, who was winless in 2013 with three straight losses.

"The fight was a rematch from a 'Fight of the Year' meeting at UFC 139 that saw Henderson emerge with a unanimous decision after five rounds.

"Immediately after the conclusion of the rematch, cameras showed Rua's nose was badly bent toward the right side of his face."
