Heisman Trophy winning Jameis Winston isn't learning any life lessons. A few weeks ago Winston was caught on tape shoplifting crab legs was slapped on the wrist with minor community service. The FSU star two-sport athlete also skated through a controversial rape investigation which prosecutors say was botched by slut-shaming detectives and shoddy police work. Now it seems that last year Winston and three friends caused a ruckus in a Burger King, stealing soda from the fountains.
According to TMZ, in July of last year an assistant manager of a Burger King restaurant near FSU's campus placed a call to the police alleging that Winston and some of his buddies were stealing soda (via TMZ):
"According to cops, Winston allegedly entered the burger joint with 3 other men and began to fill ketchup cups with soda without paying for it.
"During the call, the employee tells the operator she told Winston what he was doing was a crime -- but 'he said he didn't care.'
"The employee noted Winston and his group were 'causing a big scene out front' ... and were 'fighting with me and refusing to leave.'
"Ultimately, the case was dropped when the manager of BK decided not to prosecute ... and Jameis went on to steal crab legs from a grocery store."
This kind of thing seems to happen all the time. And not just athletes but all celebrities. They can commit the most serious offenses and pay the smallest of penance if at all. Things could get the average person heavily fined or sent to jail often go laughed at with minimum consequences. Of course Winston is stealing crab legs. No one has told him it's not ok for him to do that.
