Could Sting come out of retirement to return to the WWE ring just one more time? For the chance to wrestle Undertaker he would. What better way to do it than at Wrestlemania XXXI? The rumor mill has been running non-stop since Sting said he would be interested in the match.
Sting signed a contract with the WWE in April but no one has promised that he will wrestle again (via Bleacher Report):
"As for using him as a wrestler? That's a bit more tricky.
"It's not just The Undertaker's shocking loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX that presents a big problem. There's also Sting's physical condition to think about.
"He is 54 years old, after all.
"And he's been hindered by various shoulder problems and injuries in recent years. Towards the end of this TNA run you could really tell the physical wear and tear was catching up with him."
For weeks people have been going crazy about a possible matchup between Sting and the Undertaker at next year's Wrestlemania. At this point it's obviously too soon to speculate although that hasn't stopped people from doing just that.
Sting has said in recent interviews that he only has interest in doing one more match: the Undertaker. So obviously Wrestlemania would be the ideal scenario. The problem is the Undertaker can barely stand and probably for that reason he lost to Brock Lesnar.
But a lot can happen in a year. Taker could feasibly train for one glorious last match and send off two legendary pro wrestlers in style.
Crazier things have happened. Undertaker certainly deserves a better sendoff than Brock Lesnar. And Sting deserves his climactic curtain call as well. Maybe if they both get the DDP Yoga DVD they'll be ready in time.
