SPOILER ALERT: The Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale ended with a bang….one that killed off most of the cast. However, in true teen drama/prime-time soap fashion, most of the cast were returned to life, except for Ian Somerhader and Kat Graham. Now Nina Dobrev is opening up about what will happen to Elena now that Damon is dead...of sorts.
A lot happened in the Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale. The simple version...Everyone who matters died...crossed over to the other side and most of them crossed back, including a few old enemies. However, Ian Somerhalder’s Damon and Kat Graham;s Bonnie have been left behind.
Now Nina Dobrev is opening up to Entertainment Weekly about what is in store for Elena in Season 6:
“She’s really blossomed into this strong woman since the show began, so I’m excited to see her hopefully have a departure and a closure from this world. Hopefully that means she’ll get everything she ever wanted, which was really just a family, and stability, and love, and her friends, and everyone’s safety.”
TVD’s executive producer Julie Plec recently spoke to TV Guide about the return of Matthew Davis’ Alaric and how it will affect Elena:
“Alaric was created to be a guardian to Elena and Jeremy and if there's anybody who needs that emotional support right now it's Elena...Him [returning] is a really beautiful circle back to that dynamic where he's going to be there for her as a friend and as emotional support. But also now he has to come to terms with what it's like to live life as a secret vampire. So she has something to teach him too. The Elena and Alaric friendship is something we're really looking forward to next year and I'm super excited to have Matt back. He's not only a fan favorite, but a cast favorite.”
