Recently DC Comics fans were given an awful lot to be excited about. During Last week’s Season 2 finale of Arrow, fans got their very first look at Grant Gustin as The Flash. We also got to see Ben Affleck's Batsuit. Now DC comics Kingdom Come and former Flash writer Mark Waid about his thoughts on The Flash trailer and Batfleck.
Mark Waid is best known as the work on Kingdom Come, Superman: Birthright and The Flash. So he is the perfect man to talk to about the upcoming Flash TV show and Batman Vs Superman movie. Comicbook.com recently caught up with Waid and asked picked his brain about all things geek, including the new Flash trailer:
“You know what? I liked it. I’m not keen on the whole ‘my mother was killed” retcon, because I don’t understand why everyone has to have Batman’s origin. But, that said, I really like the visuals of it. I like the look of it. I like that he seems to be having fun as a superhero. Because, again, if your superpower is that you can run really fast and make time stop, it would be a blast. I don’t want to hear your problems. How you can have that problem and still be upset? ‘Oh my diamond shoes are too tight. Oh no!’ So I think that’s awesome, and I gotta say-- I admit I got chills when he said, 'My name is Barry Allen, I’m the fastest man alive.' That gave me chills.”
Speaking of Batman, the former Kingdom Come writer also commented on Ben Affleck’s Batman:
“I think he’ll be fine. Look, I was around when--I was literally working in the DC Offices--when Michael Keaton was announced as Batman, and you would have thought that the world had ended at that point. Everyone was all like ‘This is the end of all comics’, and it was fine. At this point I think the character is such a good character that I think you’d be hard-pressed. Even Clooney wasn’t a bad Batman, he was just a better Bruce Wayne. He was actually not a great Batman, but he was a perfect Bruce Wayne.”
