Dodgers Dugout Fight, Miguel Olivo Bit Off Alex Guerrero Ear

There's a lot of blood in Salt Lake right now. The Dodgers' triple-A club came into town for a good old fashioned baseball game and wound up somewhere between Major League and Mike Tyson. In a dugout fight between teammates Miguel Olivo and Alex Guerrero, Olivo came away with a trophy: Guerrero's ear. Olivo bit off his teammate's ear. You don't get to say stuff like that anymore.

While the team hasn't commented extensively on the incident there were reports circulating about the source of the scuffle (via New York Daily News):

"The Los Angeles Times reported the disagreement began with Olivo getting upset that Guerrero failed to tag out a runner after a throw from Olivo, according to Boras.

"'Olivo was stressed about it,' Boras told the paper. 'They had some words going into the dugout. Guerrero was in the far end of the dugout. He went to the front to get his bat and helmet to hit. As he walked across, Olivo decked him.'"

There is currently no word from Salt Lake law enforcement on whether criminal charges will be filed.

Olivo, a 13-year veteran, is reputedly a hothead, but usually his ire is directed at his opponents.

It's almost unfathomable that this incident occurred between two teams named the Albuquerque Isotopes and the Salt Lake City Bees. That's the cutest baseball game ever devised.

Guerrero seems poised for the majors if he can improve his defense and get his ear back.

What do you think? Should criminal charges be filed against Olivo? What really started the fight between the two teammates? What is a better name than the Isotopes? Okay. What is a better name than the bees?
