SPOILER ALERT: Tonight Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is all new with the Season 15 finale. The long-running series was recently renewed for an impressive 16th season. There is still one more episode left for this season. Last week Amaro got arrested, so tonight he turning to Munch for help. Meanwhile, Donal Logue is leaving the show. The actor is starring as Detective Harvey Bullock on Fox’s Batman prequel Gotham.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Law & Order: SVU, titled “Spring Awakening,” reads:
In the 15th-season finale, Amaro lands in trouble with the Internal Affairs Bureau again, so he turns to Munch for advice. Meanwhile, several male tourists get robbed and raped after replying to an escort ad online, and Benson has a shocking connection to a suspect in a case.”
TV Guide’s Mega Buzz column tries to answer some pressing questions about the finale, including, Amaro’s arrest and possible departure, Donal Logue’s transfer to the Gotham P.D. and detective Munch’s return:
“Executive producer Warren Leight says Wednesday's season finale will include ‘something like an exit’ for Logue's Declan Murphy, but the door will be left open for him to return. But is Amaro on his way out too? I hear that Munch's return in the finale is related to Amaro's arrest--but even he may not be able to right all Amaro's wrongs.”
Amaro does seem to be walking a Stabler-esque path. Both detectives have gone off the deep end at work by beating perps. Both men have had trouble in their personal lives, and both have even shot kids in self defence.
The Season 15 finale airs tonight at 9:00 p.m. on NBC.
