Charlie Day is best known for playing the rat killing, cat food eating, waitress loving Charlie Kellie on the hit FXX series, It is Always Sunny in Philadelphia. However, the real man is completely different from his TV counterpart. In fact, he is a doctor. That is right! Charlie Day is an doctor. The actor/writer recently received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater Merrimack College.
Upon receiving his honorary doctorate, Day joked:
"Dr. Charlie Day sounds like some sort of club DJ. I assure you, I intend to go by this title from now on, and I plan to begin writing my own prescriptions immediately"
Day also got really serious, when he added:
“Everything I’m truly proud of in this life has been a terrifying prospect to me. From my first play, to hosting ‘Saturday Night Live,’ getting married, being a father, speaking to you today. None of it comes easy. People will tell you to do what makes you happy, but all this has been hard work. And I’m not always happy. I don’t think you should just do what makes you happy. Do what makes you great.”
It is Always Sunny in Philadelphia is currently filming it’s tenth season, now on FXX. The show’s move to new network cost them a few viewers, who do not have access to FXX but that hasn’t put a damper on the series. It is Always Sunny in Philadelphia has officially been renewed for two additional seasons.
