Not only has Charles Barkley been keeping his "playful" rivalry with the entire city of San Antonio alive, the controversial NBA analyst has been nursing some other fake beefs in the news this week. First there was talk of an MMA match between Shaq and Barkley which ended up being just a fake beatdown on TNT. Then Barkley suited up for a go-kart race with Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
On Wednesday there was supposedly going to be an MMA match between NBA on TNT co-hosts Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley. Whether or not that was ever actually going to happen isn't clear, but it didn't happen.
What did happen was a fake 'rasslin match with Shaq on top. Shaq added that if they did throw down he would totally win (via NJ.com):
"'I would definitely kick his [butt] because I'm from the streets and he's not,' O'Neal said. 'He backed out. ... I'm serious, I would kill him.'
"Oh yeah, and he wasn't kidding. 'That's no joke,' he added. 'You can quote me on it.'"
You can watch video of Shaq and Barkley gettin' it on here:
Sir Charles then took the fight to the go-kart track with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. on Friday. According to the NASCAR superstar, he didn't fare too badly (via Sporting News):
"'I don't want to ruin it, but I would tell you this - I was really surprised at how nice a guy he was,' Earnhardt said. 'I expected him to be a competition, a little more aggressive just in his personality just knowing what kind of basketball player he was and how he was on the court...
"'We'll just have to save the results for later,' Earnhardt said before using Barkley's accent to add: 'He wasn't turrible.'"
