WHCD Joel McHale Replacing Craig Ferguson After ‘Community’ Cancellation? CBS Head Denies ‘Talk’ Julie Chen Rumor [Twitter]

It has been one roller-coaster month for Joel McHale. The Soup host got to roast the most powerful man in the free world when he hosted the 2014 White House Correspondents Dinner. McHale also had his NBC show Community canceled. Now McHale is considered to be at the top of list to replace Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson thanks to a tweet from The Talk and Big Brother host Julie Chen. Now Chen’s husband, who also happens to be the head of CBS, Les Moonves has denied the rumored.

Joel McHale’s cult college Community was recently canceled by NBC. McHale tweeted his goodbye to his fans, writing:

“Thanks Community fans for being the greatest that have ever walked the earth & Thanks @danharmon for letting me be on the coolest show ever.”

Where one door closes another one opens. McHale is now free to pursue other projects that his NBC contract was holding him back from. Recently The Soup host told Howard Stern that Community was holding him back from replacing Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show.

“No one’s called. I don’t think I could even do it with Community. I’m under contract. I don’t think legally I could.”

The Talk host Julie Chen and wife of CBS head, Les Moonves recently hinted at McHale getting the job when she tweeted a picture of her husband and McHale together, with the caption:

“Me and my hubby hanging with the hilarious @joelmchale.”

However, Les Moonves insisted that the rumor was not true when he spoke to Bloomberg TV recently, claiming that there have been “no discussions to have Joel McHale take over the Late Late Show.”

Although it wouldn’t be the first time someone has denied a move before making an official announcement.
