A newly reinstated Jameis Winston has paid his debt to society for allegedly shoplifting crab legs and crawfish from a Publix late last month. Now the shocking video evidence has been released. Winston is one smooth operator. This incident occurred just months after an investigation of rape charges against Winston were closed.
The episode concluded fairly quickly and without incident:
"'[Winston]walked into a Publix near the FSU campus Tuesday night, ordered about $32 worth of crab legs and crawfish, and walked out of the store without paying', sheriff's Maj. Michael Wood told reporters. After deputies contacted him about three hours later, Winston told them that he forgot to pay, Wood said. 'He was very cooperative... Seemed fairly honest in the fact that he did not pay for the items, so it was not a huge mystery to solve.'
"After being cited for shoplifting, the Freshman two-sport athlete was sentenced to 20 hours community service and suspended from athletic activities. Winston promptly completed the requirements and was reinstated by the team."

The shoplifting is maybe not such a serious thing, but last December a woman came forward claiming Winston raped her in 2012. While the investigation was closed the woman's attorney said the investigation was botched and seemed more like an interrogation of the victim (via CNN):
"In a news conference Friday, attorney Patricia Carroll accused the Tallahassee police detective who handled the case of spending time and resources investigating her client instead of Winston.
"'I would characterize the investigation overall as an investigation into a rape victim as opposed to a rape suspect,' Carroll said."
