Jadeveon Clowney is ready to ball. He has been selected as the NFL's #1 draft Pick of 2014, he went on a "classy" mega jewelry run, a great big contract with the Houston Texans and a new shoe deal with Puma for about $190 million. So let's play some football already! Geez....
Before the draft even started, Clowney got ready to present himself to the world proper. Of course this meant dropping untold tens of thousands on high-end jewelry (via TMZ):
"Jadeveon Clowney blinged himself out just hours before the NFL Draft -- dropping some NFL-style cash on incredible jewelry ... including gold necklaces, diamond pieces and a Rolex watch ... TMZ Sports has learned.
"We know ... Clowney hit up Gabriel Jacobs from Rafaello & Co. in New York on Thursday and treated himself to some top quality items...
"Sources connected to Clowney tell us he also bought gifts for family members and people in his camp. We're told Clowney didn't want to be flashy, but rather 'classy.'"
This spending spree happened despite a new collective bargaining agreement that contained his initial deal to about $22 million which could have easily been upwards of $50 million prior to the agreement. But a player with star power has other revenue streams (via Go Gamecocks):
"In the meantime, Clowney is not hurting for dollars. He already has signed four endorsement deals, including one with Puma that Brandt said is worth around $190 million. Clowney also has deals with Wilson, Gillette and New Era, according to ESPN.com."
But don't think this ride is all about making and spending money. Clowney is ready to get to work and show that he's worth the money and acclaim (via Houston Chronicle):
"I've been proving people wrong throughout my life. A lot of people said I wouldn't be nothing growing up. And now look at me."
What do you think? Is Clowney ready for the NFL? Is he ready to manage his money?
