Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos will take charge of the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for three nights from Nov. 16 to the 18.
The Spanish conductor who took control of the New York Philharmonic earlier in the year at the Lincoln Center and now takes on another major orchestra.
The ensemble will be joined by cellist Lynn Harrel and will perform Haydn's "Symphony No. 6, 'Le Matin,' except on Friday night while the other Hadyn piece will be his "Cello Concerto in C." Albeniz "Suite Espanola "(Castilla, Granada, Sevilla, Asturias, Aragon)," will always be on offer as will Ravel's "Bolero.
Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos studied violin, piano and composition in his native Spain in the cities of Bilbao and Madrid.
The conductor has worked with a slew of orchestras such as the Rundfunkorchester Berlin where he was the music director. He also had stints with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra as the artistic director and was the chief conductor of both the Bilbao Orchestra and the Vienna Symphony.
Other links include being a conductor for the Philadelphia Orchestra at one point and the Spaniard is an honorary conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony orchestra in Japan.
Fruhbeck de Burgos was also the principal conductor for the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Italy form 2001 to 2007 all while being a music director for the Dresden Philharmonic in 2004.
Currently Fruhbeck de Burgos was announced to be the next principal conductor for the Danish National Symphony Orchestra a post running from 2011 to 2015.
