Liza Minelli will be back on stage on NBC's musical "Smash," for a second season where she will play as herself this according to Playbill.com.
Minelli will appear on the episode entitled "The Surprise Party," which is due to be aired on Feb.5, 2013 where she will be singing an original song written by Tony Award winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
The performance will see the "Cabaret" and "The Rink," star sing in a duet with Tony Award winning Christian Borle.

"Liza Minnelli is the essence of a multi-talented, singular show business sensation, particularly for her extraordinary contributions to Broadway. So what could be more fitting than to have her legendary talent on a show that celebrates a world Liza has dazzled for decades? I had the pleasure of working with Liza when we restored her landmark television special 'Liza With a Z' at Showtime, and to see her artistry up close and personal is a thing to behold."
This season of "Smash," will star "Hairspray," see Nikki Blonsky, Jeese L. Martin, Academy Award winning singer Jennifer Hudson, Jeremy Jordan and Andy Mientus all involved.
Fans of the musical will be in for performance by Tony Award winning Bernadette Peters as she will sing a new piece written by duo Shaiman and Wittman while Jonathan Tunick a Tony Award recipient will be provides the orchestrations.
According to Playbill the series second season , Josh Safran will replace Theresa Rebeck the showrunner. The television show took home a Primetime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Choreography" a Television Critics Association Award for "Most Exciting New Series," in its first season.
