The mystery that is J.J. Abrams is more frustrating then the last episode of Lost. The director/writer/producer and sometimes actor has his hands in so many pots that some of bound to spill. Abrams’ track record with TV show’s rivals that of Joss Whedon. Some good, some bad, and some canceled before their time. *cough* Firefly *cough*. Abrams just had three of his most recent TV shows canceled, NBC’s Revolution and Believe and Fox’s Almost Human. However, their hits have propelled both men to geek icons, despite their tragic misses. Whedon became the new Mr. Marvel, and Abrams got Lost in space with Star Trek and Star Wars. Now that Star Wars Episode 7 has its cast, Abrams is having to hand over the keys to the Enterprise. Roberto Orci will boldly go where Abrams just was.
J.J. Abrams is one of the biggest names in geek culture. The Lost co-creator has been put in charge of one of Disney’s most precious properties...Star Wars. However, his new gig means that some of old ones have to suffer a bit. Abrams has abandoned Star Trek for Star Wars Episode 7. Screenwriter Roberto Orci (Amazing Spider-Man 2-3, Venom) will make his directorial debut in Star Trek 3...talk about cutting your teeth.
Meanwhile, Abrams latest TV productions, Revolution, Believe and Almost Human have all been canceled. Revolution lasted 2 seasons with the others each only getting one. That might be a good thing considering the way that Lost ended. However there are some die-hard Almost Human fans who refuse to let the show go.
A Change.org petition has been proposed to save the show. The petition is addressed of virtually every major broadcast network, including Amazon and Netflix. The round robin document pleas for pick up
“Recently it was announced that FOX would be cancelling TV series, Almost Human, after only one short season. We (the petitioners) are asking for your network to help us save the series from certain demise by taking it over. Almost Human has already gained hordes of loyal fans around the world that are currently fighting to save a series they can easily relate and find joy in. The series has much potential and needs individuals to believe and share that passion. We are asking that you see the potential for this series, and allow it to become something great with the network.”
