WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan could very well lose the very thing he has been working toward his entire life. Bryan, who has only held the title for a month, recently sustained a neck injury which will require surgery. Bryan assures fans that he will return, but is his brief title reign in jeopardy?
The new WWE Champ has been a fan favorite for quite some time now. The long difficult climb to the top has just been jeopardized by injury, but wrestling's YES! Man has proven to be a valuable commodity (via Bleacher Report):
"Rather than panic, WWE is smartly playing the wait-and-see approach. Not vacating the title just yet is a sign of confidence in the star and that the company is in tune with the audience in this case. Fans want Bryan to be WWE's kingpin, even if they have to wait for him.
"Bryan announced on Monday's Raw that he will need neck surgery and will be out indefinitely.
"WWE made no indication that he would lose the championship, though. In fact, the company continued his rivalry with Kane, having the masked man leave Bryan lifeless on the entrance ramp.
"Officials are reportedly leaning toward keeping the WWE title around Bryan's waist if all goes well with the procedure."

Insiders speculate Bryan will be out for 6-8 weeks. That, according to experts, is little enough time that the WWE won't have to strip him of the title belt (via Bleacher Report). The massive popularity Bryan has built over the last year came through hard work, intensity and passion. It would be a shame to flush that down the toilet when most expect him to be back in two months.
What do you think? Should the WWE let Bryan retain the title while he recovers from surgery?
