Glee is all new tonight with the finale episode of 2014. Yeah, you read that right. Tonight’s season finale is the last time you can see the renewed series until 2015. Fox is cutting the musical-comedy’s final season in half.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s season finale episode, titled “The Untitled Rachel Berry Project,” reads:
"Rachel meets an eccentric TV writer in the Season 5 finale. Meanwhile, Sam and Mercedes move forward in their careers; and Blaine performs with June Dolloway at NYADA."
Despite a handful of event episodes this season, Glee’s ratings dropped and the show even had to switch nights. Now the show will not return for it’s final season until 2015. The musical-comedy is not currently on Fox’s fall schedule.
Kevin Reilly recently announced to reporters that the network plans to cut down on the number of episodes of Glee next year:
"It will be its last season, for sure. The order is currently for 22, but we're actually going to sit down with Ryan Murphy and really talk about how we're going to end it and figure that out. We're going to sit down and talk about exactly the best way to end the show now and how much that is.”
However, where the final season might be cut short, the network is planning to run all the episodes in a row, as Rieley added:
"When it comes back in the second half of the season, that will also air all of their episodes in a row."
