CBS’ new comedy Friends with Better Lives has not had the impact that network was hoping for. Dawson Creek star James Van Der Beek's return to TV was promoted heavily to the How I Met Your Mother crowd. However, after only five episodes the show has been canceled. HIMYM’s absence has been felt across the board on Monday night. After moving into Neil Patrick Harris’ old time slot, Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs’ 2 Broke Girls saw a steep ratings decline. Despite losing it’s lead in and millions of viewers, the show was renewed for a fourth season.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s new episode (not that it really matters) tited, “Yummy Yummy,” reads:
“Kate discovers that her new beau has a daughter, which makes her uncomfortable. Elsewhere, a playgroup father flirts with Andi.”
For now it appears that the show is going to continue out it’s keep going with the current season. The official plot synopsis for next week’s all new episode, titled “Cyrano de Trainer-Zac,"reads:
“Will steps in after Kate goes on an unimpressive date with his trainer. Elsewhere, Andi tries to impress her attractive male nanny.”
CBS is definitely feeling the loss of How I met Your Mother. The network moved Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs’ 2 Broke Girls into HIMYM’s timeslot. However, without it’s lead in the show started to slip in the ratings. Last week’s season finale dropped down to 6.49, after starting the season with an 8.8.
However, the comedy was renewed before its ratings started slipping. It would not be surprising if the network decided to change the date and time of the show next season.
