Russell Wilson used to connect with wide receiver Golden Tate on the field, leading the Seattle Seahawks to an impressive Super Bowl win in February. But did Tate connect with Wilson's wife Ashton off the field? Cheating rumors came swiftly after the couple announced they were getting a divorce. Now Tate is playing for the Detroit Lions. Did he get fired?
While no clear answers have come to light regarding the cheating allegations there has been much speculation. Once the toothpaste is out of the tube, there's no putting it back in, and some folks are wondering if Tate's recent move to a new team lends credibility to the rumors (via Sports World News):
"Russell Wilson's estranged and soon-to-be ex-wife may have had an affair with teammate Golden Tate, leading to Tate being essentially dropped by the Seattle Seahawks and Wilson filing for divorce.
"The Seahawks recently allowed Tate to walk, even though he has steadfastly denied the accusations of cheating with Wilson's wife. The veteran wideout recently signed a five-year, $31 million dollar deal with the Detroit Lions."
Tate has denied the allegations, kind of. When the story first broke Tate posted on his Twitter account warning would-be gossipmongers to stay out of his business (nice try):
"Btw the ignorant minority of people, bloggers and whoever else spreading ridiculous rumors should cut it out. It's absurd the stories that. Are being made up from whatever source. In fact Elise and Ashton are still incredible friends, as well as Russ and I. I strongly advise the ignorant folks blowing this situation up and spreading this rumors to shut the hell up. Go watch the NBA playoffs. Finally, I don't understand why it's anyone's business what happens in one's personal life. It's irrelevant to his performance on the field."
What do you think? Is Golden Tate in Detroit because of an affair with Russell Wilson's wife Ashton?
