After the serial cheating scandal of 2009, Tiger Woods has been on good behavior. It seems when your wife chases you out of your home with one of your own golf clubs, maybe you get wise. Or at least get better at sneaking. More recently Tiger underwent back surgery and is undergoing a slow but steady recovery process. He even talked to Tony Romo about it.
Tiger Woods will miss the Masters Tournament for the first time in twenty years according to ESPN. He instead will be focusing on recovering from a microdiscectomy performed in March:
"The microdiscectomy was performed Monday by neurosurgeon Dr. Charles Rich in Park City, Utah. The statement said Woods will begin 'intensive rehabilitation and soft-tissue treatment' within a week, and the goal is for him to return to competition 'sometime this summer...After attempting to get ready for the Masters, and failing to make the necessary progress, I decided, in consultation with my doctors, to have this procedure done.' the 38-year-old Woods said in the statement."
Though he has no clear timetable, Woods seems confident of a successful return to competitive golfing. If an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, Tiger ought to have a ton of cure (via The Guardian):
"'One reassuring thing from my medical exam is I have zero arthritic changes whatsoever. I've kept myself in very good shape over the years, and it has paid off. We knew going into this procedure that it really helps to be strong, especially in my glutes and my abs. I was strong in both departments, and that helps with the recovery and rehab, and you're able to come back faster... I made the decision to have surgery because physically I just couldn't make a golf swing. That pretty much sums it up.'"
He also consulted with long-time NFL QB Tony Romo who had the same operation, according to CBS Sports.
What do you think? Will Tiger be ready for action this summer?
