America's Secret Service is prompting an investigation into a racial slur posted on the social media site Facebook after this year's presidential election.
Denise Helms posted derogatory comments about newly reelected head of state President Barack Obama via her Facebook page.
The comments that had a racial tinge to it have led Helms to be fired at her job at the Cold Stone Creamery and the facility released this statement regarding their former employee on Twitter.
"The employee is no longer w/the company. We were as shocked as you were by her outrageous & completely unacceptable comments."
The company said that it was hounded by persons reacting to Helms comments and said that they received 20 angry voicemails and Facebook posts this according to modbee.com.
When confronted about the comments Helms told FOX40 Sacramento. "I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. The assassination part is kind of harsh. I'm not saying I'd go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen I don't think I'd care one bit."
The Secret Service is looking into the matter because U.S. law deems it a felony to make threats against any president so possible jail time could be set for Helms if the government agency sees fit to issue any punishment.
The 22-year old said via her Facebook. "And another 4 years of the (n-----). Maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!"
After deleting her first comment Helms replied on the social media site and said. So apparently my post last night about Obama got onto Twitter and Fox 40 came and interviewed me cause apparently a lot of people in Sacramento think I'm crazy and racist. WOW is all I got to say!! I'm not racist and I'm not crazy. just simply stating my opinion.!!!"
