After a decade with the franchise, Sandra Oh will be making her last appearance on Grey's Anatomy before moving on the other things. Shonda Rimes has promised an exciting send-off, leading some to formulate the theory that Christina Yang will be murdered via the terrorist incident alluded to earlier in the year, which would make for one hell of a Season 10 finale spoiler. There is also a theory that Oh will reconsider Preston Burk's (Isaiah Washington) offer to move to Europe so she can start printing hearts. In some real-life drama surrounding the show, Grey's studios are being sued for allegedly nuturing a sexually discriminatory environment.
All eyes are on Sandra Oh going into Grey's Anatomy Season 10 finale tonight on ABC.
Fans still aren't sure what from Shonda Rimes promise that the series will give Christina Yang's departure the gravitas it deserves, and the official finale synopsis does nothing to answer their questions (via Wet Paint):
"With Derek (Patrick Dempsey) away, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) spends time with Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and finds out her true feelings about her time in Seattle. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) deals with the ramifications of her actions, and Callie (Sara Ramirez) receives devastating news. Meanwhile, the residents panic after hearing that one of them will be fired."
Who gives a crap about any of that stupid noise, unless Yang is getting fired--and that hardly seems plausible?
There have been all kinds of theories that have been debunked here and there, but the most exciting still viable candidate seems to be the one where Christina Yang is taken out via Al Qaida IED.
Shonda Rimes and ABC have more than just one finale to worry about, however; according to Perez Hilton the show is being sued for perpetuating an environment of discrimination:
"Grey's Anatomy's best boy grip Timothy Day is suing ABC Studios and Disney-ABC International over gender discrimination.
"[Mr. Day] alleges that he was fired solely because he voiced concern over 'a pattern of pervasive gender discrimination and harassment perpetrated' by the show's director of photography Herb Davis.
"Davis would regularly demean the women he worked with both directly by questioning their competence, and indirectly by making sexist jokes."
The suit also reportedly accuses Davis of purposefully causing the show to go over-budget on episodes that were directed by women.
And you thought just the gays had it bad on Grey's.
